Flushing (Vlissingen) is a city of the Zealand, province of south gods Netherlands.
To know
Flushing is an industrial port connected to Middelburg through a canal whose waters feed the "Veerse Meer", an inland lake. In the summer, tourists and day hikers flock to the Flushing seafront to watch the cargo ships skim the coast before landing at the industrial port located four kilometers east of the town.

By car
Flushing is at the terminus of the railway coming from Amsterdam and at the end of the toll motorway A58 which originates from Eindhoven. Thanks to a road tunnel under the estuary of the Western Scheldt with entrance from the city of Terneuzen you can reach Flushing in a short time from the city Belgian of Ghent and from other centers of the Flanders.
Thanks to numerous cycle paths you can reach Flushing by bike from the Belgian cities of Ghent and Bruges using one of the numerous water taxis that land at the Flushing marina from the opposite coast (twenty minutes' crossing).

Mon-Fri 10: 00-17: 00, Sat-Sun, holidays 13: 00-17: 00. The museum of the sea (from the pun museum and sea-EEZ) is set up in old buildings of the 16th - 18th centuries welded together and modernized in the 21st century style.
- 1 Belgian Loodshuizen, Spuistraat 59-65. Four Art Nouveau houses commissioned by Belgian pilots to the architect PF Smagge in 1910: Villa Louise (civic 59), Villa Maria (civic 61), Villa Blanche (civic 63) and Villa Yvonne (civic 65).
- Beeldenhuis, Prins Hendrikstraat. A 1730 Louis XIV-style mansion that belonged to Johan Wester Wyck, an adventurer enriched by trafficking in the Far East and who later took on a key role in the direction of the Dutch East India Company. Destined to be demolished for dock extension works, it was saved at the last minute and rebuilt on the Prins Hendrikstraat.

The promenade and the nearby beach are the most popular places for Flushing holidaymakers.

Mon-Fri 12: 00-00: 00, Sat-Sun 11: 00-00: 00. This is the place to go if you like video games. Built in the style of a traditional Dutch funfair, the Carrousel is a two-story building. The video games upstairs are suitable for children while those on the ground floor are more complicated and therefore more suitable for adults. Don't step into it if you plan to make a profit. Losing is much more likely and the winnings are always small. The Carrousel has a restaurant that serves rather simple dishes.

Flushing nightlife is centered around the Bellamypark, a square square where different clubs alternate one after the other. Go through them and if you don't like the atmosphere of one, move on to the next until you find the right one for you.

Mon-Sun 12: 00-03: 00. A quiet place with a typical Dutch atmosphere. In the afternoon and evening hours the music is in the background, so as not to impede conversation. Typical pub dishes are served but have an above average price. Better to do without it and fall back on alcohol. They have a good selection of draft beers. Among these is the Belgian Vedette, with a low alcohol content, suitable for the hottest summer days.

Mon-Sun 12: 00-03: 00. A place frequented by students and always crowded. Live music every Wednesday. A second bar set up in the basement opens its doors on Thursdays and Saturdays, when the ground floor is packed.

Mon 19: 00-03: 00, Tue-Sun 13: 00-03: 00. The busiest place in Flushing. A traditional British pub has been set up inside. During the day it is a quiet place to go to have a beer sitting at one of the outdoor tables. The Speyk is in fact renowned for its large selection of beers. At night it turns into a night with loud pop music. Its clientele is made up of very young people.

You will find plenty of places to eat both in the old town and along the seafront. Most of the restaurants serve fish dishes. The most popular are based on mussels (mosselen), squid (inktvis), cod (kabeljauw or kibbeling), sole (sliptong). Be sure to try the lunch bolus, the traditional bread of Zealand.

12-14 €. Restaurant serving fish dishes, especially fries. It has a very modest appearance rewarded by the low prices. The staff are friendly and provide advice and information. Try the "mixed fry".

Double from 130 €. Several rooms, (not all) have a nice view of the sea and are overall spacious but their furnishings have nothing special. It has parking and a sauna.

Bed from € 22.50 including a simple breakfast. In addition to sleeping accommodations, the hostel also has en-suite rooms with simple red pine furniture. Towels and sheets are an extra for which you pay a separate price. The hostel is centrally located next to a church whose bells ring every half hour even at night, which is why bring earplugs.
