The Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport(Romanian: Aeroportul Internațional Henri Coandă Bucureşti) is the larger airport in the Romanian capital Bucharest.

Arrival and departure

By train

From Gara de Nord (main train station) in Bucharest there are trains every 40 minutes around the clock to Otopeni Airport "Arrivals Hall"[1]. The journey takes 20 minutes and costs around 0.80 euros. [2]

By bus

There are four express bus routes to the city center:

• 780 to the Gara de Nord
• 782 to the Băneasa shopping center
• 783 to the city center via the important places Piața Charles de Gaulle, Piața Victoriei, Piața Romana, Piața Universității, to Piața Unirii. 24-hour operation, 40 minutes at night.
• 784 Express to City Center (Unirea Square)

The bus stop is on the ground floor of the airport building, one floor below arrivals. Fare 2019 uniformly 3.50 L.

With the taxi

There are two options for a taxi from the airport to the city:

1. There are several terminals directly at the exit, which can be used to order a taxi. You will receive a kind of receipt with the license number of the vehicle that you have been allocated and then wait in front of the door for its arrival. The trip costs 1.39 lei per kilometer plus 13.90 lei per hour.
2. Instead, you can also take one of the “rapid taxis” that are already waiting in front of the door, but these cost 3.50 lei per kilometer.

In both cases it is strongly recommended to insist on the use of the taximeter and to check whether the counter is set to zero at the beginning of the journey (basic price visible in the display). A flat rate offered by the taxi driver before the start of the journey is usually 3 to 5 times too high. However, there are enough honest taxi drivers that you can turn down such an overpriced offer and look for another taxi.

The airport is 20 km north of the city center and can be reached via the DN1 federal road.

Bucharest Henri Coandă is the home airport of the Romanian airline TAROM, which is also the most active airline at the airport. It operates intra-European and national flights.
