Friuli Venezia Giulia - the region in the north Italywhich includes 2 autonomous areas making up an autonomous region of 7845 km² and 1.2 million inhabitants. Geography
The northern part is occupied by the Eastern Alps and their foothills. The highest peak is Coglians reaching 2780 m above sea level. The southern part of the province is occupied by the Venetian Plain. Numerous rivers flow in the region, incl. Tagliamento, Sirilla, Isonzo, Livenza and Fella.

The economy of the region is based on agriculture and industry. The processing industry is well developed, in particular: shipbuilding (Trieste, Monfalcone), textiles (Udine, Gorizia), refining (Triest), photo-optical, watchmaking, machine, metal, chemical, footwear and food.
