Głuchołazy(German: Bad goat neck) is a mountain town in the Opole Voivodeship between the Reichensteiner Mountains and the Zuckmanteler Bergland in the Sudeten at the Goat Neck Biele. The place is the starting point for hikes in the surrounding mountains. He is on Sudeten main hiking trail not far from the reservoirs Patschkau and Ottmachau. Until 1945 the place was a state recognized health resort.

background

The place was founded around 1220 by the Wroclaw bishop and then destroyed by the Tatars in 1241. Rebuilt, the place received city rights in 1263. Gold and iron ore were mined around the place. In the age of Polish particularism, the city belonged to changing duchies until it came to the principality of Neisse, which had been dependent on the fief of Bohemia since 1342. The city was affected in the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years' War. In 1742/1763 the place came to Prussia. In 1874 the town was connected to the rail network, and thanks to the medicinal springs, the town became a popular health resort in the late 19th century. In 1945 the city came to Poland.
