On the path in the Giant Mountains

The Sudeten main hiking trail (pole. Główny Szlak Sudecki) is a red-marked long-distance hiking trail that leads from Świeradów-Zdrój in the Jizera Mountains to Prudnik at the foot of the Zuckmantel Mountains. It goes through two voivodships: Lower Silesia and Opole. The Path of Polish-Czech friendship runs on the main ridge of the Giant Mountains partly on the same route as the main Sudeten hiking trail.

The almost 440 km long hiking trail is after Beskydy main hiking trail the second longest hiking trail in the Polish mountains. He crosses that Jizera Mountains, the Giant Mountains, the Landeshuter ridge, the Waldenburger Bergland, the Owl Mountains, the Warthagebirge, the Heuscheuergebirge, the Eagle Mountains, the Habelschwerdter Mountains, the Glatzer snow mountains, the Reichensteiner Mountains and the Zuckmanteler Bergland. It leads over the highest parts of the Sudetes, even if it does not climb the highest peaks, and crosses two national parks: Krkonose National Park and Heuscheuergebirge National Park, as well as that Glatzer Ländchen. The main Sudeten hiking trail was created from 1947.

getting there

By train

You can arrive by train Zgorzelec. The final station was time Świeradów-Zdrójwhere the trail begins. However, the railway line to Świeradów-Zdrój has now been closed, so it is advisable to use the bus. The trail ends in Prudnik, from where you can take the train to Wroclaw or Opole can get.

In the street

The journey by road is also usually from Zgorzelec via Luban respectively. Prudnik, on the other hand, is best reached via Wroclaw.
