Krzeszów(German: Grüssau) is a mountain and pilgrimage site in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in the Waldenburger Bergland, a part of the Medium brews. The village is the starting point for hikes in the surrounding mountains. However, it is best known for its baroque monastery complex. It is on Sudeten main hiking trail and on the Way of the Cistercians.

background

The place was first mentioned in 1242 when the Benedictine monastery was founded. In 1292 the monastery was taken over by the Cistercians. In the age of Polish particularism, the monastery and the place belonged to changing duchies until it came to the Duchy of Schweidnitz in the 14th century, which became dependent on the fief of Bohemia in 1368. The monastery was destroyed in the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt each time, most recently in the high baroque style. In 1742/1763 the place came to Prussia, the monastery was secularized in 1810. In 1899 the place was connected to the rail network and in 1919 the monastery was taken over by Benedictines. In 1945 he came to Poland. The monastery was founded in 1947 by Benedictine nuns Lviv accepted.
