Karpacz(German: Krummhübel) is a city in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in the Giant Mountains at the Great Lomnitz. Their location makes them next Szklarska Poreba, Jagniątków and Kowary the most important center of tourism in the Polish part of the Giant Mountains. The city offers opportunities for winter sports and is the starting point for hikes in all parts of the Giant Mountains, especially in the national park and on the Schneekoppe, which is over 1600 meters above sea level. Karpacz has around 8,500 guest beds.

The place was first mentioned in 1599 as a lead and iron mine for mining. Tourism began to develop in the early 19th century. In 1895 Kapracz was connected to the railway network of the Giant Mountains Railway. The place continued to develop, with the exception of the times of the world wars. In 1945 he came to Poland.

The railway line (formerly the Giant Mountains Railway) was discontinued in 2000. The closest train station has been since then Jelenia Górawhere you have to switch to buses.

By bus

Intercity buses run regularly to Jelenia Góra and long-distance buses to other cities in the region.

The bus line 160 024 of the company PKS Jelenia Góra runs Mon-Sat approximately every hour, on Sundays seven times a day from Jelenia Góra (bus station - Dworzec autobusowy, train station, town hall) via Mysłakowice and Kowary to Karpacz (train station, health center, various hotels, church Wang , Karpacz Górny). In the street

All roads lead through the district capital Jelenia Góra (Hirschberg). The direction Karpacz is well signposted from here. From Berlin, take the A13 / A4 motorway to the border crossing at Forst. From there it goes on via the Autobahn 4 to Legnica, where you turn south in the direction of Hirschberg. From Dresden the A4 leads to the border, then leave the motorway at the first exit and continue to Hirschberg. From Austria you drive over Prague and Jungbunzlau /Mladá Boleslav.
