Luban(German: Lauban) is a historic city in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship north of the Jizera Mountains in the Sudeten at the Queis.

The place was founded around 1220 and first mentioned as a city in 1268. In the age of Polish particularism, the city belonged to the Duchy of Jauer until it came to the Duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer in the 14th century, which became dependent on the fief of Bohemia in 1368. The city was affected in the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years' War. During the Reformation it converted to the Protestant faith. In 1742 the place came to Prussia. In 1866 the place was connected to the rail network. In 1945 he came to Poland.

Intercity buses run regularly to Wałbrzych and long-distance buses to other cities in the region.

Lubań is on the trunk road DK30 (Görlitz / Zgorzelec – Jelenia Góra).

You can get to the junction on the A4 motorway (Dresden – Görlitz – Breslau) Godzieszów drive. From there it is 13 km along the Voivodeship Road DW296 to Lubań.
