THE Georgia (Sakartvelo; საქართველო) is a country of Eastern Europe. It borders north and east with the Russia, to the south with the Turkey and Armenia, to the east and south with Azerbaijan, and to the west with the Black Sea.

The name Georgia comes from the Greek γεωργ- (geōrg-), which led to believe that the name would derive from its patron saint, Saint George, or from the Greek term for cultivating, γεωργία (gueōrguía).
