Gerlingen is a city in the west of the Baden-Württemberg State capital Stuttgart, it is located in the south of the Strohgäus on the edge of the Glemswald.

Gerlingen is located on the southern tip of the Ludwigsburg district. To the north of it lies Ditzingen, to the west is the city Leonberg, and in the east Gerlingen merges into the Stuttgart Weilimdorf district. Until 1942, the area around that belonged to Solitude Castle zu Gerlingen, then it was incorporated by Stuttgart. Districts of Gerlingen are Gehenbühl and the Schillerhöhe.
