The Gerntal is a rugged alpine valley in the Karwendel. Access is from Pertisau at the Achensee.

  • Mountain world of the eastern Karwendel
  • Gernalm valley head - This is dominated by the 2258 m high Bettlerkarspitze. Incidentally, it leads up this steep mountain no Mountain path. Anecdote about the name "Bettlerkarspitze": Even if the name tempts you as "Bettelkarspitze" to be pronounced, the mountain is still called Bettlerkarspitze. Incidentally, the pronunciation error has already been documented via Google on the Internet. Just enter both names!
Incidentally, there is no hiking trail leading to the Bettlerkarspitze. It is reserved for climbers.

Valley hike

Via the Seebergsteig to the Gernalm - The valley can be hiked on attractive paths on foot. A beautiful Panorama path in the valley is the Seebergsteig. To get there, stop at the pier in Pertisau diagonally right (following the yellow signs). The path first leads steeply up the slope (attention: the path is here not suitable for prams). From here you have z. Sometimes beautiful views of Pertisau with Achensee. After this first ascent, the route turns into a slightly hilly slope. At the Peltzachalm you step back onto the valley floor.
Walking time: Pertisau jetty (approx. 935 m) - Berggasthof Gernalm (1166 m) approx. 2 hours; On the way, you can also stop at the Peltzachalm. Easy paths, sturdy footwear is still recommended

Montscheinspitze

Height: 2,106 m. Demanding Mountain hike, surefootedness and a head for heights are a must absolute must (You shouldn't shy away from unsecured climbing up to scale II over 200 m). The mountain is sometimes inappropriately referred to as "Mondscheinspitze", the name derives from the Romanesque, analogous to the northeastern Mantschenalm monticinu for "Berglein" in the sense of a small mountain pasture.

  • Route: Round trip from the Gernalm car park 1166 m: Schleimsattel 1556 m - ascent to the Montscheinspitze (demanding section with partly unsecured climbing areas over 200 m) - Montscheinspitze 2106 m - transition on the ridge path down to the Plumsjoch at 1921 m (very steep path with scree) - Plumssattel 1650 m (refreshment stops in the Plumsjochhütte - descent on a steep but wide road back to the Gernalm
  • Walking time: 6 - 7 hours (round tour).

Seebergspitze 2085 m

Lookout summit with a panoramic view of the Achensee. Moderately difficult mountain paths open up the summit (in the summit area, surefootedness and a head for heights are required in some cases).

  • Walking times: approx. 2 1/2 - 3 hours easy (with approx. 1150 m); Starting point: Pertisau jetty (there is also a paid car park here).
