Typical rural area of the Wijde Aa region
It is a relatively uncrowded bog area of towns and villages. It is a green agricultural area between the four largest cities in the country. The flat polders and canals are considered to be typical landscapes of the country and can be explored by hiking or biking.

- Alphen aan den Rijn - One of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, with prehistoric finds and museums.
- Gorinchem - Fortified city with the possibility of cycling through the flat surrounding landscape.
- Gouda - Beautiful city famous for its homonymous cheese (Gouda), the stroopwafels and the cheese market.
- Oudewater - Known for its witch stool, where certificates are issued stating that people are not witches.
- Woerden - Commuter town, with a modern commercial cheese market.
