Heiligendamm - Heiligendamm

The seaside resort Heiligendamm is located on the Baltic coast in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Heiligendamm is the oldest seaside resort in Germany and will be the White city by the sea called. The place is now a district of Bad Doberan. Heiligendamm has been the most elegant seaside resort in Germany since it was founded. The European nobility, like the tsarist family, spent their summer retreat here.

Today Heiligendamm is still far from being able to build on its former glory. The neglect in GDR times and the almost complete closure of the former core area for day tourists, who have to accept long detours, have led to a sharp decline in the number of visitors. The beautiful villas of the Pearl necklace are partly still in need of renovation. Nevertheless, the view from the beach to the former core area of the seaside resort with the beautiful classicist villas is recommended - even if the tourist infrastructure is still missing.
