Nienhagen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is located on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast between Heiligendamm and Warnemünde.

In the west you can find the twelve meters high Cliffsat which the Baltic Sea gnaws. It therefore breaks away by about 25 cm every year. Below the steep bank there are stretches of beach with fine sand that are suitable for swimming. There are also interesting debris deposits and large boulders to see.

The Nienhäger wood is an approximately 180 hectare mixed forest with beech and oak, which is popularly known as Ghost forest is called. On the approximately 100 meters wide and 1.25 kilometers long stretch of coast there are beeches that have been deformed by the sea wind. They often have an unusual stature and the branches are twisted like a snake. This gives the forest a ghostly appearance, especially in fog and at dusk.
