How to get

By car

Police checkpoint

It is possible to visit it as a very ambitious day trip, but to really appreciate it it is best to consider a couple of days. The road is hardly paved and in excellent condition, but an off-road vehicle is mandatory; travelers without a suitable car will be rejected at the police checkpoint.

From highway 15, take the exit for Birkat al Mawz. Turn left at the T-junction (following the signs for Nizwa), then follow the signs for "Al Jabal al Akhdar". To climb it is necessary to overcome the 1 police checkpoint where a 4WD is required and where you need to show your driver's license and car registration. From here you will have to use the low gear.
