The most comfortable and unfortunately also the most expensive place to live is downtown Jersey City. The cheap hotel mile is on Tonnele Ave (= US Route 1) in the north of the city. If you want to save money but not forego comfort, it is best to opt for one of the airport hotels in Elizabeth out.
