Jesenik - city in Czechia, in the country of Olomouc, situated in the Opawskie Mountains (Czech: Zlatohorská vrchovina), on the border of the High Jesenik (Czech: Hrubý Jeseník) and the Golden Mountains (Czech: Rychlebské hory). The city is located approximately 110 km north of Olomouc in the Sudetes at the confluence of the Staříč River in Bělá. In 2019, it had approximately 11,200 inhabitants.

Characteristic

The city is located in the historic Austrian Silesia (which did not reach Prussia in 1742), on the edge of Jeseníky (Czech: Hrubý Jeseník), which culminating on the Pradziade hill reaching a height of 1,491 m. In the 19th century, the textile industry developed in the town. After 1945, there was a broad exchange of people. Many new buildings have weakened the historic structure of the building. In the 19th and 20th centuries, nearly 100 springs were collected and monuments were added, including one by Ludwig Schwanthaler. Jeseník has a population of around 19,500 (2019).

Jesenik is located on the 44 national roads leading from Mohelnicwhere it departs from the European route E 442, via Šumperk and Jesenik to the border with Poland in Głuchołazy and 60, which leads to the border with Poland in Javorník (Jauernig). The fastest way to travel from Wrocław is via Javorník. The fastest way to get from Opole and Katowice is via Mikulovice.
