Kafr esch-Sheikh (Arabic:كفر الشيخ, Kafr el-Sheikh, „Sheikh's village") is a egyptian City in Nile Delta. It is the administrative seat of the eponymous Governorates. The city has a population of around 147,000 (2006). The city offers few attractions and is usually the starting point for trips to Sacha, Disūq or Fuwwa.

Sheikh Talha et-Talmasani (Arabic:طلحة أبي سعيد بن مدين التلمساني, Ṭalḥa Abī Saʿīd bin Madīn at-Talmasānī) came from what is now Morocco and lived here for 31 years until his death in 1233/1234 (631 AH). He was also the uncle of the in Ṭanṭā revered Sheikhs Aḥmad el-Badawī.
Initially the former village was called Dunqyun, Arabic:دنقيون. It was only later given its current name Kafr esch-Sheikh.
During the king's reign Fuʾād I. (1868-1936) the city was in al-Fuʾādīya (Arabic:الفؤادية), But got its original name back after the revolution of July 1952.
The companies located here include a rice mill, a sugar factory and a poultry feed factory.
