The egyptian Governorate Kafr esch-Sheikh (Arabic:محافظة كفر الشيخ) Is in the north Nile Delta. The governorate national day is celebrated on November 4th. On November 4, 1956, the battle of el-Burullus took place between the Egyptian-Syrian naval forces under Galāl ed-Dīn ed-Disūqī and the British-French naval forces. The victory is considered to be the most significant in the history of the Egyptian naval forces. The battle was a result of the occupation of the Suez Canal by French and British armed forces after its nationalization on July 26, 1956. On November 7, 1956, the French and British were asked to an armistice by the United Nations.
