The egyptian Governorate esch-Sharqiya (Arabic:محافظة الشرقية, Muḥāfaẓat al-Sharqīya) is in the east Nile Delta. It borders the governorate to the north ed-Daqahlīya, in the east to the governorates Port Said and Ismailia, in the south to the governorate Cairo and in the west to the governorates el-Qalyūbīya and el-Gharbīya. The administrative center is ez-Zaqāzīq.
