West Kalimantan (Kalimantan Barat often abbreviated to Kalbar) is one of the four provinces into which the region of Kalimantan, the part Indonesian of the island of Borneo.

Urban centers
- 1 Mempawah - Ancient capital of a vassal emirate of the sultanate of Pontianak, Mempawah is renowned for its museum housed in the Amantubillah palace, the residence of Prince Mohammad Taufik Akamaddin.
- 2 Pontianak - Provincial capital, Pontianak it is located on the line of the equator.
- 3 Sambas - A thriving city in the 6th century AD with remains of Hindu temples.
- 4 Singkawang - A Chinese majority city with gold veins in its territory that have determined its prosperity.
Other destinations
- 1 Betung Kerihun National Park (Taman Nasional Betung Kerihun) - A seemingly remote park located right on the border line with the Malaysian province of Sarawak. Until the end of the 20th century it was only possible to reach it by boat by going up the river Kapuas from the city of Pontoniac to that of Putussibau. The opening of new asphalted roads has compromised the integrity of its forest cover, favoring the illegal trade in timber and poachers always looking for baby orangutans which are then sold abroad as pets.
- 2 Gunung Palung National Park - Covered by a dense jungle, the park offers shelter to a few thousand orangutans.
