Karlskrona is a city in the southern Swedish region Blekinge. It is located on an island, but is well connected to the mainland by roads and railways.

Karlskrona has a long history as a naval base, mainly used for defense against Russia was needed. To this day there is a military academy and a shipyard in the south of the island, which are closed to visitors.
