Komárom-Esztergom County - the county in the north Hungarian, over the border with Slovakia. It is included in the EU's "North-West Hungary" (Északnyugat-Magyarország) statistical region.
The northwestern part of the Komárom-Esztergom county is situated in the Little Hungarian Plain. The southern and eastern parts are situated in the Transdanubia Central Plateau. The southern belt of the county is occupied by the northern foothills of the Bakonian Forest and the Wertesz hills. In the eastern half of the county are the Gerecse hills, the western part of the Pilis hills and the depression between them. The county extends to the east to the Danube Bend.
