Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County - the easternmost county Hungarian. To the north-east it borders with Ukraine, from the south-east with Romania, from the south-west with Hajdú-Bihar county, from the north with the county Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and with Slovakia. It belongs to the EU's "Northern Hungarian Plain" (Észak-Alföld) statistical region.
