Kowal (German during the Second World War: Kowall or Free City) is a historic small town in the voivodeship Kuyavian Pomeranian on the Kuyavian Lake District in the region Kuyavia in Poland. The place is on the Rakutówka. It is known for its historic old town and as the birthplace of Casimir the Great.
