Koenigstein is a city in the Saxon Switzerland.

Königstein lies at the mouth of the Biela and the Elbe. The city was first mentioned in documents in 1379 as a market town at the foot of the castle built on the "Stein" at the beginning of the 13th century.

There are the following districts:

The Königsstein Fortress is one of the largest mountain fortresses in Europe. The rock plateau rises 240 meters above the Elbe. There are over 50 buildings up to 400 years old on it. The rampart of the fortress is 1.8 kilometers long and has walls and sandstone walls up to 42 meters high. In the fortress is the second deepest fountain in Europe at 152 meters.
