My is a city of Phthiotis.

To know

Lamia is located almost in the middle of the distance between Athens (211 km) and Thessaloniki (295 km).

Many of those who come to Lamia pass through the much more famous location of Thermopylae, in memory of the Spartan glory during the Persian wars.

How to orient yourself

Pl. Eleftherias, the main square of the city

The heart of the city is represented by the 1 Eleftherias square from which a series of pedestrian streets branch off. To the north-east of this is the castle perched on a hill visible from the whole city. South of Eleftherias is Lamia station.

By car

From the north you can take the Autokinetodromos A3 number.svg albeit still nearing completion, to then be placed on the state road GR-EO-3.svg.

From the east is there Autokinetodromos A1 number.svg coming from Thessaloniki which then continues south up to Athens.

  • 1 Lamia Fortress (Kastro Lamias).
    • 2 Archaeological Museum. Inside the fortress
  • 3 Memorial of Leonidas and the 300 Spartans (16 km south of the city, in the hamlet of Thermopylae.). This monument, placed in what was then the Thermopylae pass, recalls the sacrifice of the 300 Spartans led by Leonidas who stopped the Persian advance for a few days.   • 4 Fortified hill of Kolonos (In front of the memorial of the 300). Going up this hill there are other inscriptions in memory of the battle and you can also have a better view of the area.

Safety

Right next to the thermal waters there is a refugee camp. While this does not pose a problem, caution should always be exercised to avoid unpleasant circumstances.
