Langenau is a small town in the Alb-Danube region. It lies at the transition from the Lower Alb to the Donauried.

Langenau lies at the origin of the Nau, a left tributary of the Danube, which flows through the Donauried Gunzburg flows into the Danube.

In 1972 the formerly independent towns of Albeck, Göttingen and Hörvelsingen were incorporated.
