Located in Drôme Provençale, the medieval village of Poët-Laval is classified among the most beautiful villages in France. Its perched part, dating from XIIe century, constitutes the tourist attraction of the site. The population of the village is found mainly in the lower part, closer to the axes of communication, built from the XVIIIe century along the Jabron river,

The village of Poët-Laval is accessible by car from Montélimar, or the motorway exits leading to it, by following the D540 towards Dieulefit.

The perched village is very narrow and limited to car traffic, a parking lot below provides access.

from 18 years old: 3,5 €. – This castle of XIIe century, altered several times and restored in 1996, dominates the village. It has a dungeon in which temporary exhibitions are now held. The first level gives access to a walkway offering a panoramic view of the village and its surroundings. The Saint-Jean-des-Commandeurs church is located at the foot of the keep, its intact bell tower has a sundial on its facade, while part of the impressive dome still remains.

5 €. – The association of friends of Vieux Poët-Laval organizes every Wednesday in July and August a guided tour of the castle and the old village, upon registration with the Pays de Dieulefit-Bourdeaux tourist office. Out of season, group visits can be organized by appointment.
Walks and hikes
- 1 Corniche trail – This marked trail with a length of 6,7 km for a positive height difference of 430 m offers beautiful panoramas over the Jabron valley.
- 2 Mount Rachas lookout Prints – This marked trail with a length of 9,5 km for a drop of 548 m provides access to a viewpoint over the Lez valley and the surrounding mountains.
- 3 International trail In the footsteps of the Huguenots – This international trail with a length of 2 000 km closely follows the historical path of the Protestant exile (Huguenots) following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. Starting from the village of Poët-Laval at the level of the Dauphinois Protestantism Museum, this path then passes through France, Switzerland, Italy and Germany. A division into several stages with topo-guides and GPS tracks is proposed on the project site.
