Grignan is a village in the department of Drome located in the heart of the Drôme Provençale Between Montelimar and Nyons.

Understand

Tourist village of 1,500 inhabitants, Grignan is renowned for its historic center dominated by its Renaissance castle. The history of Grignan is strongly linked to that of Marquise de Sévigné and his famous correspondence with his daughter who was then living in Grignan.   • Presbytery (or cure)  – former Palace of the Dean, served as town hall of the Revolution until 1857. Today it is a private house which retains a listed fireplace from the XVIe century.
  • Saint-Vincent Chapel at the cemetery – the oldest monument in Grignan. Primitive Romanesque style, the chapel dates from the XIe century. Its facade so pure as well as the regularity of its construction in small apparatus, make it a remarkable building.
  • Bayonne hamlet (on the Réauville road away from the village) – the hamlet notably shelters the charming St-Pierre church.
