Montélimar is a city in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and is halfway between Valence and orange in the Rhône Valley, around 150 kilometers north of the Mediterranean coast.

Montélimar is located on the northern edge of the Mediterranean climate. From Montélimar at the latest, the Mediterranean culture becomes clear, and the vegetation in Montélimar is also very southern. The winters in Montélimar are already very mild, but not quite as warm as on the Mediterranean coast, while the summers are very hot. As is typical for the Mediterranean region, the summers are very dry and the winters are often wet and foggy.

By plane
The small 1 Montélimar – Ancône airport(ICAO: LFLQ) is used for "general aviation" (i.e. private flights), there are no scheduled flights.
The Marseille airport(IATA: MRS) is approx. 150 km away. Regional express trains (TER) run from the airport train station directly to Montélimar, the journey takes about 1:45 hours.
The big international one Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport(IATA: LYS) is 160 km away from Montélimar, but thanks to the direct TGV connection from the airport train station, the transfer only takes a good 50 minutes.
By train

The 2 Montélimar train station is on the route Paris–Lyon–Marseille. TGV from Paris stop here three times a day Gare de Lyon (Journey time just under 3 hours) via Lyon airport (50 minutes). In addition, regional express trains (TER) from Lyon Part Dieu run almost every hour (journey time 1½ hours) Valence (20–25 minutes) as well as from Avignon (50-55 minutes) about orange (30-35 minutes); every two hours from Marseille (a good 2 hours) and Arles (1:20 hours).
By bus
Flixbus offers a daily connection from Nîmes (1½ hours), Lyon (2:15 hours), Montpellier and Grenoble (each 2½ hours), Annecy (4:40 hours), Geneva (5½ hours) and Paris (Travel time 9 hours).
German bus companies rarely offer trips to Montélimar.

From the German-French border you drive around 550 kilometers to Montélimar.

Tourist Attractions
Montélimar has become a nougat city with a nougat museum due to its southern location and the relative proximity to the African and Arab cultural area. Montélimar has a picturesque, southern old town with good restaurants, the Château de Adhémar and an aviation museum are well worth seeing.

- 2 Château des Adhémar, 24 Rue du Château. Originally a medieval castle from the 12th century, which was later converted into a Renaissance chateau. Today it houses a contemporary art center.
- 3 Palais des Bonbons et du Nougat, 100 Route de Valence (2 km north of the city center on the D 540A). Museum and amusement park on the history, origins and diversity of confectionery and sugar. The focus is on the cultural history and production method of nougat.
