mobility
The infrastructure is very good. Well-developed roads, with clear markings and guard rails at critical points. The terminal for minibuses is a bit outside. Travel price with tricycle from downtown 30-35 PHP. There are a lot of minibuses, but also larger ordinary buses. The latter are very suitable for tourists who want to see something of the country and its people. You have a much better view than from the minibuses. From around 6 p.m. the sidewalks in the province are folded up, if there are any. In practice it is then hardly possible to come back to Tacloban, no more public transport.
The airport in Tacloban is quite far out. But it's also easy to get away from there in the evening. Price with Jeepny Airport / Downtown 30 PHP. You can really save yourself the taxi. Most of the hotels are downtown.
There are several options for shopping in Tacloban. In the city e.g. Gaisano, in front of the city (with free shuttle jeeps) the new Robinson's Mall.
A very long, elegantly curved bridge, the San Juanico Bridge, leads from Tacloban to the neighboring island of Samar.

security
Mosquito protection is particularly important in the provinces. Bring liniment with you, it is by no means certain that you will get off in small places, for example.
