The Littoral is the eastern part of the province Chaco in the Argentine Chaco, it stretches along the Paraná and Paraguay rivers. The region is fertile and relatively densely populated.

The littoral of the Chaco is a humid savannah landscape, which in many respects the Pampas resembles, but is interspersed with forests. Therefore, this area has always been characterized by forestry.
For travelers in this hot, almost tropical area, the banks of the Río Paraná / Paraguay and the nature reserves in the interior are of particular interest, which still offer practically untouched nature. Above all, the animal world, with big cats such as jaguars and pumas, but also deer and other red deer, is worth seeing.

The Ruta Nacional 11 runs through the entire region with a little distance along the Río Paraná and Río Paraguay in a north-south direction. From there there are well-developed inland access roads. From the west, the region is not so easy to reach directly from the height of the province of Chaco, as the road network is nearby ImpenetrableRegion is very bad. There are good bus connections to the provincial capitals, which can also be reached by plane.

As in the rest of the Chaco, the littoral also has hot, humid summers (34 ° C daily temperature in Resistencia) and very mild, somewhat drier winters (22 ° C). Droughts in winter with a lack of water are more common in the winter months despite the humid climate.
You can swim in the Río Paraná and Río Paraguay as well as in the lakes of the region almost all year round: from mid-September to mid-May the temperatures are pleasant, in summer often over 25 ° C.
