Little Cayman is the smallest of the three islands that make up the Cayman archipelago.
Geographical notes
It is located in the Caribbean Sea about 140 km northeast of Grand Cayman and 8 km west of Cayman Brac.
Background
The first settlements on Little Cayman date back to the 16th century, but were abandoned due to the raids of Spanish pirates. The island remained uninhabited until 1833 when some settler families founded Blossom Village, which still remains the inhabited center of the island today.
