Lorch is a city in Baden-Wuerttemberg, between Swabian Alb, Swabian-Franconian Forest and Virgin forest. The main attraction is the high medieval, former Benedictine abbey.

Lorch is located in the Remstal in the foreland of the Swabian Alb and on the southern edge of the Swabian-Franconian Forest. The Schurwald begins to the west of Lorch. The formerly independent community of Waldhausen as well as numerous hamlets, farms and other residential areas belong to the city. The best known is probably the former one founded by the Hohenstaufen in 1102 Lorch Monastery.

With public transport

The train stations 1 Lorch and Waldhausen are on the Remsbahn from Stuttgart to Aalen. There are connections with every half hour, Sundays and public holidays every hour Bask (around 25 or 30 minutes) and Stuttgart (around 35 or 30 minutes). Lorch train station and the district Kirneck are hourly with express buses Goeppingen connected (around 30 or 20 minutes).

Lorch is on Limes cycle path and on Remstal cycle path.

With the car

Lorch is up to the B29that of Stuttgart above Schorndorf comes and after Schwäbisch Gmünd and Bask continues. Out Goeppingen comes from the south B297.

Next to the entrance to the monastery above the village there is a reconstructed, walk-in watchtower, from which one has a good view over the Remstal. Some information boards and a small piece of reconstructed palisade complete this section of the Limes.
