North Macedonia (Maced. Северна Македонија, Republic of North Macedonia, mac. Република Северна Македонија) - a country located on Balkan Peninsula.

Geography
North Macedonia is an upland and mountainous country. The highest peak is Golem Korab - 2,864 m above sea level, which is also the highest mountain in Albania. Other mountains are Pelister and Galicica. There are almost no lowlands, they are only in the valley of the Wardar River. It borders with Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Greece and Bulgaria.

Travel time selection
It is best to travel to Macedonia in summer because you can hike in the mountains and it is warm (approx. 25 degrees). However, in summer in cities, heat can reach 40-50 degrees.
Visas
Since 2006, a visa is not needed for stays of up to 90 days for Poles.

Macedonian denars can be exchanged on site for euros (valid in the neighboring one Kosovo).
Insurance
A green card is obligatory, it is recommended to take out insurance for yourself (medical services are paid for foreigners). A green card, valid only in Macedonia, can be purchased at border crossings, but only at certain times and at certain times.

By plane
Macedonia has two airports - one in Skopjeand the second v Ohrid. In the season, you can fly to Ohrid by charter flights from the airports in Katowice and Warsaw. Throughout the year, 6 days a week, LOT Polish Airlines also fly to Skopje from Warsaw.
By train
The main railway junction is Skopje, there is no direct connection with Poland (you need to change to Budapest and then in Belgrade). The Belgrade-Skopje train costs about PLN 70 one way.
By car
The most popular route from Poland runs through Serbiawhere the motorway runs almost the entire section. Macedonia is very often a transit country for people wishing to reach Greece. Motorways of an acceptable standard, often without an emergency lane, payable in local currency or in Euro, or by card.
By bus
Bus AdamisTours goes to Greece via Macedonia (stops in Skopje) every Tuesday, incl. from Katowice, Krakow and Warsaw. The cost of the Warsaw-Skopje ticket is about PLN 400.
Border crossing
Crossing the border on the basis of a passport or ID card. Drivers are required to have a Green Card.

According to official data from 2010, North Macedonia had over 40 cities with a population of over 3,000. residents. The capital of the country, Skopje, was the only city with over 100,000 inhabitants. residents; 4 cities with a population of 50,000 ÷ 100,000; 8 cities with a population of 25,000 ÷ 50,000, 9 cities with a population of 10,000 ÷ 25,000 and the rest of the cities below 10,000 residents.

Transport
The road conditions are slightly worse than in Western Europe, but the traffic volume is lower. There are two main highways in the country - from the Serbian border towards the Greek border and from Skopje to Gostivar. Highways are paid at the gates - in denarii or euros or by credit / debit card.
During the holiday season, the main international car traffic goes towards the border with Greece and Bulgaria, and the internal one between Skopje and Lake Ohrid.
Tongue
The official language is Macedonian, written in Cyrillic, but you can communicate in Russian and Polish (not in English!). In the East and South of Europe, natives like to trick "Western tourists!".

Very often you can find a bazaar where crops are sold at low prices. You can also find a pekara (bakery) where you can buy bread and flour products.
