East Macedonia and Thrace - one of the 13 administrative regions of Greece located in the north-eastern part of the country. It covers a part of Greek Macedonia and that part of Thrace which belongs to Greece. The region borders the region to the west Central Macedonia, from the north with Bulgaria, from the east with Turkey. To the south it is bounded by the Aegean Sea.
Together with the Central Macedonia region, it co-creates the Macedonia-Thrace Administration.
The capital of the region is Komotini.
