Martell(Italian: Martello) is a municipality in the Martell Valley, a right side valley of the Etsch in the middle Vinschgau. The Martell valley is approx. 25 km long. This article describes the upper reaches of the valley with the municipality of Martell, the valley entrance with the towns of Goldrain and Morter belongs to the municipality Laces

The municipality of Martell has almost 900 inhabitants. They are spread across the districts 1 Mieren, 2 Enne water, 3 Ennetal, 4 Sonnenberg, 5 Gand and Hintermartell. The administrative headquarters are in Mieren. The municipality is located in Stelvio National Park.
The Martell valley is bordered by a number of three thousand meter peaks. The highest mountain is the 3769 m high 1 Monte Cevedale, a ridge connects it with the 2 southern and the 3 northern tip of chance. Other striking mountains are the 3,305 m high 4 Lasa Orgelspitze, the 3439 m high 5 Zufrittspitze and the 3257 m high 6 Hasenöhrl.
The valley is traversed by the Plimabachwhich rises in the Ortler Alps on Monte Cevedale. It is located at an altitude of 1850 m in the 1 Zifrittsee dammed and finally empties into Goldrain into the Adige.
This remote mountain valley is considered to be Berry Valley, raspberry thrive here. Blackberries, currants and most of all Strawberries. The growing area of these fruits covers 55 hectares. It starts at an altitude of 900 m and extends up to an altitude of 1800 m. The harvest times are accordingly: the first strawberries ripen in June, the last ones ripen at the beginning of September.
