There is no rail connection in Mauerbach itself. The next train stations of supraregional importance are:

  • Vienna Hütteldorf (10 km southeast): Regional and regional express trains of the ÖBB (Vienna-Linz) as well as trains of the Westbahn
  • Tullnerfeld (20 km northwest): Regional and regional express trains of the ÖBB (Vienna-Linz) as well as trains of the Westbahn
  • Tulln on the Danube and Tulln city (20 km north): Regional and regional express trains of the ÖBB to the Waldviertel as well as trains on the S40 S-Bahn (Vienna Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof - Klosterneuburg - Tulln).

  • From Vienna: West exit, then in Auhof Not onto the autobahn, but continue on the B1. Turn right at the next set of traffic lights and drive through the old town center of Mariabrunn onto Mauerbacher Straße. Keep going straight on Mauerbacher Straße until you reach Mauerbach. Alternatively via Neuwaldegg, the Exelberg and the Sophienalpe.
  • From Tulln: State road L120 via Königstetten and the Riederberg to Hainbuch, there turn right onto the L121.
  • From Klosterneuburg via Weidlingbach or Hintersdorf to Steinriegl and then via Hainbuch.
  • From St. Pölten: Motorway A1, exit 23 Pressbaum, follow the B44 to Purkersdorf, there change to the B1 towards Tulln and after Gablitz in Allhang turn right onto the L2127.

On foot

Hiking through the Vienna Woods, for example from Neuwaldegg (tram 43, approx. 12 km) or Hütteldorf (tram 49, approx. 10 km) via the Sophienalpe or from Purkersdorf (S-Bahn, approx. 6 km) via the Buchberg (465 m).

mobility

The regional buses from Vienna run every 30 minutes, and every 15 minutes during rush hour. The lines to Tulln and St. Pölten run less frequently. With the bike, a mountain bike with appropriate driving experience is recommended because of the greater inclines. It should be noted that forest paths in the Vienna Woods may not be used by bike unless it is expressly permitted.
