Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is a nature reserve in Cayo District in Belize.
background
history
The area of over 500 square kilometers was put under observation in 1944 in order to secure the forestry operations. But just four years later, a large fire destroyed large parts of the tree population and forest operations were stopped. In 1977 the nature reserve was finally set up with the associated hunting ban, thus ensuring unique flora and fauna
landscape
In the highlands of the highlands of Belize, a coniferous forest has established itself which is interspersed with small rivers, waterfalls and rocks. There are often caves here.
Flora and fauna
It is not particularly surprising that you will find a slightly different fauna and flora here. Large parts of the area are covered with coniferous forests, which bring their own ecosystem to the typical rainforest but something different.
