Murska Sobota is a city in Pomurska in Slovenia.

The city has belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary since the Middle Ages. In 1919 the city came under the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, which in 1929 became Yugoslavia. In the spring of 1941 the city came back to Hungary and in 1945 back to Yugoslavia. Since the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991, it has now belonged to Slovenia.
