Mysłakowice (German Zillerthal-Erdmannsdorf) is a rural community in the southeastern hinterland of Jelenia Góra in the Polish Voivodeship Lower Silesia.

The community is located in the Hirschberg Valley at the foot of the Giant Mountains and is also known as the “Valley of Castles and Gardens”, as there are several castles and mansions close together, each of which has a garden. In addition to the main town Mysłakowice, the municipality also includes the villages of Bukowiec (Buchwald), Karpniki (Fischbach) and Łomnica (Lomnitz). The place is on the Piast Castles Trail.

Ten districts belong to the rural community (gmina) Mysłakowice: Bobrów (Boberstein), Bukowiec (Buchwald), Dąbrowica (Eichberg), Gruszków (Bärndorf), Karpniki (Fischbach), Kostrzyca (Whisk), Krogulec (Södrich), Łomnica (Lomnitz), Strużnica (Neudorf) and Wojanów (Schildau).

From the first half of the 19th century, several members of the Prussian royal family had their summer residences in the area. It all started with Prince Wilhelm, the younger brother of König Friedrich Wilhelm III.who acquired Fischbach Castle in 1822. By visiting his brother and General Field Marshal from Gneisenau, the owner of Erdmannsdorf Castle, the king himself learned to appreciate the area. After Gneisenau's death, Friedrich Wilhelm III. Erdmannsdorf Castle. He left it to the Prussian court architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel remodel; the garden was designed by the royal gardener Peter Joseph Lenné. The king also acquired Schildau Castle in 1839 for his daughter Luise and her husband Friedrich von Oranien-Nassau, Prince of the Netherlands.

In addition, Friedrich Wilhelm III. in 1838 evangelical refugees from the Zillertal in Tyrol to settle in Erdmannsdorf. The mountainous landscape reminded them at least remotely of their home and the place name became Zillerthal-Erdmannsdorf expanded.

For the journey to the main town Mysłakowice and the other districts, however, it makes more sense to go to the station Jelenia Góra - where trains from Gorlitz as well as long-distance trains stop - transfer from the train to a bus or taxi.

A railway line runs through Łomnica and Mysłakowice, but there is no longer any passenger traffic.

By bus

Intercity buses run regularly to Jelenia Góra and long-distance buses to other cities in the region.

In the street
