Nabatieh Where Nabatiye (النبطية in Arab and ܐܠܢܒܛܝܥ in Syriac) is a city of South Lebanon. About 75,000 permanent residents in Nabatieh itself (Tahta and Fawka), and the agglomeration includes about ten villages in the surroundings.

Story

Nabatieh is located in the center of Jabal Amel, historical name of South Lebanon since IIIe century av. J.-C. until the constitution of the current state of Lebanon in 1920. It is today the capital of the governorate of Nabatieh and the capital of the eponymous district.

The history of the city dates back to times before VIIIe century av. J.-C. Its location has changed several times between hills and valleys as well as the sources of the region that the city currently occupies.

Different countries and peoples have followed one another since the Stone Age.

The present city dates back to the Nabataeans, to whom some historians believe it owes its name. This people had for capital Petra. His power extended during the IIe to Ier centuryav.
