background
The municipality of Neckarwestheim is located a few 100 m from the right bank of the Neckar on a plateau. The place was first mentioned in 1123. 1555 received at that time Cold west named place the market law. In the 17th century the community came to Württemberg. At the request of the municipality, King Karl of Württemberg approved the change of the place name to Neckarwestheim.
The place experienced an economic boom at the end of the 1970s after a former quarry Neckarwestheim nuclear power plant was built and ensured good business tax revenue. This allowed the place to spend more money creating and maintaining it than other communities of comparable size. This is visible e.g. B. on the spacious sports facilities, the new town hall and the renovation of the old school building from 1890.
