Drenthe
The least populated province of the Netherlands. Located on the Drents Plateau. This area is best known for its dolmens and popular for its moors, sand drifts and dolmen from the early Neolithic period.
Friesland
The most water-rich province in the Netherlands, best known for its lakes and ice skating. Friesland has a special culture and special traditions. The snow week is an annual event in the summer, while the winter revolves around the Elfstedentocht, one of the most legendary skating tournaments in the world that can only be held in extremely cold winters (the last was in 1997).
Groningen
The city Groningen is one of the most vibrant cities in the Netherlands and a highlight of the Northern Netherlands. The Ommelanden is a very flat and green area that has historical ties with Friesland.
