Friesland, often in the plural too Friesland called, are a group of historical regions along the continental North Sea coast.
This includes the following travel regions:
- the Dutch province Fryslân
- the West Frisian Islands (e.g. Texel, Ameland)
- the region West Frisia in the province North Holland
- the Groninger Ommelanden in the province Groningen
- the Lower Saxony region Ostfriesland with the Oldenburger Friesland and the East Frisian Islands (e.g. Borkum, Norderney, Spiekeroog)
- the Wesermarsch
- the Country sausages in the Elbe-Weser triangle in Lower Saxony
- the individual islands Neuwerk (to Hamburg) and Heligoland (to Schleswig-Holstein)
- the Schleswig-Holstein region North Frisia with the North Frisian Islands (e.g. Sylt, Amrum, Föhr)
- the most south-westerly point South Jutland in Denmark
