Nyaung U(Burmese: ညောင် ဦး မြို့) is a city in the Mandalay region in Myanmar. It is the largest place north of the temple area of Bagan.

By plane
The two airlines Air Mandalay Air Mandalay and Air Bagan fly daily to the town of Nyaung U at the northern end of the Bagan area. You can get to Bagan by taxi for 1000-1500 Kyat.
The airlines often fly sightseeing flights (e.g. Yangon - Nyaung U - Mandalay - Yangon). The flight connections to Nyaung U are often fully booked due to the tourist attractiveness of this destination. It is advisable to book the flight before departure.
By train
- On the route Yangon - Mandalay in Thazi get out. The rest of the way is done by bus or pick-up (800 Kyat).
- There is also a direct route Mandalay (from 10 p.m.) - (at 6 a.m.) Bagan (from 8:00 am) - (to 16:00) Mandalay. The fare is $ US 9.

- Traveling by boat is a nice experience. The most recommendable is the drive from Mandalay to Nyaung U. The journey takes 10 to 12 hours. Departure is around 5:00 a.m.
- There is a ferry connection to Pakokku. Departure is 05:00, 06:00, 09:00, 13:00 and 14:00. The journey takes 2 hours
