Oleśnica (German: Oils) is a historic city in the polish Voivodeship Lower Silesia at the Oels brook in the Silesian lowlands north of the Or. The city, which has been the capital of the Piast Duchy of Oels since 1312, lies at the foot of the Katzengebirge and is particularly known for its medieval old town and the Piast Castle in the Renaissance style.
