Oranjemund (colloquial O-Town) is a city on the Atlantic coast Namibia, right on the border with South Africa.
background
The place is right at the mouth of the river Orange (English Orange River), hence the name of the place. Since Oranjemund is located directly in the restricted diamond area, only workers and members of the diamond mines of the DeBeers monopoly lived here until 2011. The village has been open to foreigners without a special permit since October 2017.
Under construction from 2018 Hub A tourist information and day-care center is set up. The development program OMD2030 should help with the transition to a normal city.

By plane
The air Line Air Namibia offers daily flights to Luderitz, Walvis Bay, Windhoek and Cape Town in South Africa.Also at Alexander Bay Airport(IATA: ALJ) is a landing site.
In the street
Traveling by car is difficult. The national road leads from Windhoek B1 above Keetmanshoop and Luderitz to Oranjemund.
