The town Walvis Bay (Afrikaans: Walvisbaai; English: Walvis Bay) is the largest seaport in Namibia and (as well as the smaller one Luderitz) strongly influenced by its fish processing industry. Walvis Bay is about 30 kilometers south of Swakopmund within a lagoon which forms one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the South Atlantic.

The international 1 Walvis Bay Airport(IATA: WVB) offers direct flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg. Connecting flights to Frankfurt am Main, London, Munich exist about the airport Windhoek.
Walvis Bay Airport is served by Air Namibia with other destinations inland (Windhoek, Luderitz, Oranjemund) and Cape Town connected and South African Express flies daily from Cape Town and Johannesburg to the seaside town.
In the street
Walvis Bay is also the end point of the B2 national road and can easily be reached by car from 30km Swakopmund or can be reached in 4 1/2 hours from Windhoek.
By boat

- The lagoon offers shelter for up to 160,000 birds and food for over 200,000 terns as they migrate to and from the Antarctic regions. You can paddle through the lagoon in a kayak.
